Cooking on Yom Tov for another day, such as a weekday or Shabbat, is prohibited. However, when Yom Tov coincides with Erev Shabbat, our Sages instituted Seder Eruv Tavshilin, which permits cooking for Shabbat on Friday of Yom Tov. This eruv must be made before Yom Tov begins. Please note that this only allows for the 2nd day of Pesach when one observes it as a Chag day. On the first day it is still prohibited to prepare foods for any other day including Shabbat.
