Each week the Torah portion (Parashah) is read on Shabbat and is divided into seven sections known as aliyot. Our Sages teach that the energy for each week of the year is described by the Parashah for that week. Many communities since ancient times have used a triennial cycle of readings by which the entire Torah is read over a three-year period. Our community uses the triennial cycle for Shabbat reading.

Haftarah literally means "taking leave" and is read on Shabbat after the Torah portion. It is a selected reading from the books of the Prophets, and usually has a thematic link to the Torah reading that precedes it. The Haftarah reading is not always the same in all Jewish communities, our congregation follows the Sephardic custom.

There are years when the Torah portion of Israel and the Diaspora may not be aligned for a few weeks due to the observance of 8 days for a Festival as opposed to the 7 commanded by Torah. According to Kabbalah, each Torah portion describes the energy that is flowing into our world for that particular week. For this reason, our community follows the Torah Cycle as in Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel).

With your tzedakah (donation) we can continue to provide meaningful services, studies, and share our Kabbalah4All Siddur with everyone. We thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
